Course Description

In this course, Dr. Willoughby Britton provides a thorough overview of dissociation, how it can be caused and perpetuated by meditation, the relationship between dissociation and trauma, and various mitigation strategies, especially scaffolding.

  • Understand the signs of dissociation, how it is understood in cultural context, and what factors exacerbate and perpetuate dissociation.

  • Learn how dissociation can occur during meditation, why dissociation is related to the sense of self, and how trauma contributes.

  • Observe a demonstration on how trauma-sensitive methods like scaffolding can help meditation-related dissociation.
